In preparation for the first annual New Partners Forum, The American Lawyer surveyed new partners in Am Law 200 and a few major international firms. We polled 5,800 lawyers who were promoted to partner since 2008. 296 partners responded.

We asked newly promoted partners a variety of questions about their experience so far: job satisfaction, whether making partner has lived up to their expectations, how well prepared they felt they were at the time of their promotion and their thoughts about the future of their careers both at and beyond their time at the firm.
